The “gas on destination” feature gives you an additional option of adding some tokens when bridging non-native assets. This is particularly useful when you don’t have enough native assets to process transactions on the destination network when your bridging of funds is completed.
Example:
Imagine you are bridging USDC from the Ethereum network to the Beam chain using the Beam Bridge:
- Source Network: Ethereum
- Destination Network: Beam chain
Once you have added the necessary information on the Beam Bridge, locate the additional bridge setting to include gas on destination and adjust the default value:
By setting a value for “gas on destination,” you ensure that, in addition to the USDC being bridged, an extra amount of native BEAM tokens will be included. This additional BEAM is used to pay for gas fees on the Beam chain, enabling seamless operations such as transfers or swaps once the assets are received. The total amount you’ll pay in your wallet includes the gas you’ll be airdropping to your destination.
